3 Reasons Why Now Is The Perfect Time To Get New Flooring

As the days grow longer and the weather warmer, many homeowners start thinking about home improvement projects. While summer is often associated with holidays and outdoor activities, it is also an ideal time to complete indoor renovations, particularly flooring, as you can be outside on the day it’s being done. Here are our top three reasons why summer is the perfect season to invest in new flooring for your home. Better weather We’ll start with the most obvious one! Better weather provides a better environment to install flooring for a number of reasons. Materials such as hardwood, laminate, and even carpet benefit from low humidity levels, which help prevent warping, swelling, and other moisture-related issues. Also, adhesives used in flooring installations cure more effectively in warm weather, ensuring a more secure and lasting fit. Not to mention that you can also have windows and doors open to ensure that any temporary fumes created from installing the flooring can dissipate quicker. You can see what needs the most attention With improved light (and more of it) flooding in through windows, you’ll be able to notice which areas of your home need the most attention. We find that customers tend to notice marks on their flooring in Summer that went unnoticed in the darker months. While it’s easier to make quick improvements to your home, the flooring can have the biggest impact of all. It’s also the aspect of your home that sees the most wear and tear so making sure you prioritise the areas that need the most attention is important. We have a Floorspiration Hub that has lots of stunning photos to give you some flooring inspiration for all areas of your home. Enjoying your new flooring Finally, one of the most rewarding aspects of installing new flooring in the summer is that you can make the most of it. With children out of school and more time spent at home, summer provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy the comfort and beauty of your new flooring. Whether you’re hosting a barbecue, having a family movie night, or simply relaxing at home, new flooring can enhance your overall experience. Whether you’re looking for new hard flooring or carpet, we have a huge range to see at both our Worthing and Storrington showrooms. We always encourage customers to come in to see our ranges for themselves so that they can make a better decision (more on this in one our previous blog posts). By visiting one of our showrooms, you also have the opportunity to speak to our friendly team of flooring experts. With years of experience, they’re on hand to help you choose the right flooring for you. Customers often bring a curtain sample or cushion cover in so we can match flooring to soft furnishings and as we mentioned, we also have a Floorspiration Hub so that you can get some ideas before coming in to see us. You can also show the photos you see on our website to our experts who will be able to take you to the flooring shown, or something very similar. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Our Flooring Trends Guide For Winter 2023/4

As 2023 comes to a close and Winter sets in, now is a great time to change up your home to make it cosier and help you forget the colder weather. As always, we’ll be giving you the top colours of the season, as well as which flooring types people are going to be loving this time of year. If you’re looking to get new flooring, we always recommend visiting our Worthing or Storrington showroom to see our ranges for yourself and speak to our team of flooring experts. Colour Trends For Winter 2023/4 It’s predicted that 2024 will be the year that people are more adventurous with their colour choices. Although neutral tones will always be a favourite, more people will be opting for brighter colours like flamingo pinks and playful blues. Keep reading to find out which colours are predicted to be the most popular in Winter 2024. Reds If you love to get into the Christmas spirit, you’ll be pleased to know that red is a strong trend for this Winter. Whether it’s a fiery red or a deeper shade, both are set to become popular and who doesn’t want to feel like an A-list celebrity when walking your own red carpet at home?! Those who read our Autumn trends guide for this year will know that deep reds were trending in Autumn and while this trend will evolve into brighter reds, deeper ones are here to stay too. Here at Wall Bros, we pride ourselves on the huge range of carpets that we stock in both Worthing and Storrington. Although more neutral colours are always a popular choice, we have a whole rainbow of carpets to choose from so finding the perfect red for your home won’t be a problem. Blues As we said at the beginning, blue will be coming into its own this season. Which will compliment the colder weather while still bringing a pop of colour into homes. What’s great about blue is it comes in a huge variety of shades. So being on-trend with your carpet can be as subtle or as bold as you like. Whichever colours you choose for your flooring, it’s important to consider the type of environment those colours will create. The colour blue can bring a sense of stability into the home which is a great quality to have. It’s also a very royal colour and compliments most neutral furniture colours so is a fantastic choice for flooring. Pinks While blues are understandable for this time of year, pink may come as a surprise. That’s not to say that it can’t compliment your home just as well. In fact, a pop of warm pink at home can make it feel more inviting; especially in these colder months. Both light and bolder pinks are going to be trending in Winter this year so we’re sure that you’ll find a shade that works in your home. Having pinks trending for this season allows you to experiment more with colour. Making homes brighter during the darkest time of year. Just like blues, pinks come in a huge variety of shades, from dusky to cerise, so you can be as bold or as subtle as you like with this trend. Flooring Trends For Winter 2023/4 Now, let’s look at the different flooring types that we’re expecting to see more of this Winter. Before we do though, if you’ve been inspired by this guide, don’t forget that you can pop into our Worthing or Storrington showroom to not only view our ranges but speak to our team of flooring experts. They’ll be able to give you the advice you need to make the right decision for your flooring. LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tiles) A strong theme throughout this guide has been that people are becoming more bold with their colour choices and when it comes to the flooring type, it needs to be something that allows them to do just that. Geometric patterns and squares are going to be trending as we head into 2024 and LVT leans very well into patterns because it is made up of individual planks. Which also means that people can be more experimental with colours and patterns – something we expect given the trends. Engineered wood flooring Just as it had been in Autumn this year, wood flooring is still set to be a popular choice; despite the cold weather. What’s different about the winter trend, though, is that people are going to be opting for more accented wood. Which brings more character to their home. The great thing about engineered wood flooring is that underfloor heating works well underneath it. Which is a good energy efficient way to heat your home, in fact, an under-floor heating system is estimated to use 15-40% less energy than a radiator. Carpet As we’ve said before, it seems that no flooring trends guide is complete without the mention of carpet. It continues to be one of the most popular types of flooring and it certainly creates a cosy feeling during these cold months. Just like the other flooring and colours in this guide, bolder coloured carpets are set to become popular. If you follow us on social media, you’ll know that we have a huge array of colourful carpets at both our Worthing and Storrington showrooms. So if you’re looking to make the most of this trend, be sure to pop in and see us.
Nights drawing in?

Snuggle up with our Autumn Trends Guide for 2023 Many people like their interiors to fit with the seasons and this Autumn is no different. As we head into Autumn 2023, you may be looking to change up your home to reflect the changing of the season. Of course, colours like deep oranges and mustard yellow are always a great option for this time of year, but there are other options too. In this trends guide, we talk you through what colours are trending now as well as the flooring that people are loving. Colour trends for Autumn 2023 As we mentioned at the beginning, deep oranges and mustard yellows are always a staple for this time of year. They’re perfect as accent colours throughout your home – think soft furnishings, such as cushions on the sofa and lampshades. While this is a lovely touch, you might want to change your wall colour or even your flooring to reflect the season. So here are the top three colours to consider for Autumn 2023. Earthy neutrals – light browns and beiges Changing your interior to match the season is a great way to connect with nature and with earthy neutrals trending, this couldn’t be easier. What’s great about this trend is that it leans into what’s already trending in the flooring world as light browns and beiges continue to be the top choice of flooring colour. Bringing these more neutral colours into your space can create a sense of tranquillity and a greater connection to nature. Muted greens Unlike last year’s Autumn colour trends, this year there’s a focus on muted greens. Instead of opting for bold green – which would be perfect for Summer – tone it down for this transitional season. Just like the neutral earthy tones, muted green allows you to connect with nature and bring a little bit of it into your home. Green carpets are really refreshing and can be subtle depending on the look you like best. So make sure you take a look at our ranges in Worthing or Storrington and speak to our experts. Deep reds Last, but by no means least, deep reds are back after their trend last Summer. This time though, the darker red allows interiors to be a little darker and bring a cosy feel to your home. As the nights get longer, a deep red can bring calm and a sense of security. There are lots of ways to bring this colour to your interior, but of course carpet can give the biggest ‘wow factor’. Contrary to popular belief, having dark flooring doesn’t have to make the room feel dark so it’s worth speaking to our team of experts – don’t shy away from darker shades! Flooring trends for Autumn 2023 Now you’ve got an idea on what colours to choose, let’s look at the three most popular flooring choices for Autumn this year. You might be pleasantly surprised! Wood flooring First on the list is wood flooring, which may not have been what you expected for a colder season. People are continuing to opt for real wood flooring in their homes, not least because of its durability and timeless style. If the cold is what you’re concerned about, don’t forget that you can always put underfloor heating underneath wood flooring. Wood retains heat really well and this type of heating system can be much more efficient. Saving you money on your energy bills. Luxury vinyl tiles (or LVT) We recently did a whole blog post on LVT as this type of flooring is just so versatile so we’re pleased to see it trending this season. The fantastic thing about LVT is it allows you to lean into a range of trends. For instance, if you love the look of wood flooring but need something a bit more durable and pet friendly, LVT is the flooring for you. With individual planks, LVT can look exactly like wood flooring but can come with extra benefits that are right for you. Bold patterns are popular this year and LVT flooring can also achieve a bold look too. Wool carpet We don’t think any flooring trends blog post would be complete without the mention of carpet! Wool carpet has quickly become a popular choice among carpet buyers for a variety of reasons. From its soft feel underfoot to its durability and how easy it is to maintain. For Autumn, wool carpet is a fantastic option as it is a fantastic insulator. Keeping the warmth in while also reducing draughts. We have a huge range of wool carpets and so we’re sure you’ll find one that you love. Modern wool carpets are also easy to clean, so make sure to ask our experts about this and other features that are important to you when you come to our stores. Whatever tickles your fancy this autumn, our flooring experts are on hand to make sure that you find your perfect flooring. We’d love to see you at our Worthing or Storrington showroom soon!If you’re interested to learn more about how we help our customers choose their perfect flooring, read our recent case study here.

Choosing The Right Flooring: Our 2023 Quick Guide

New year, new floor? Here’s what you need to know Getting new flooring is a great way to give your home a fresh new look and the beginning of a new year is a great excuse to do just that. So, if you are looking for new flooring, our experts have put together a quick guide which tells you everything you need to know about choosing the right flooring to suit your needs. Don’t forget that this is just a quick guide. Our friendly flooring experts are available to give you more help at both our Worthing and Storrington showroom. What goes with what? One of the first things you’ll be thinking about when considering new flooring is what type of flooring goes with the interior you have. Whether you’re keeping it the same or planning to change the interior, the flooring needs to match or complement it. We’ve referred to ourselves as the ground workers of interior design before and this is because flooring works to tie everything in the room together. Choosing flooring that does just that is important to the overall look and feel of your home. So, what can you do to make sure things go well together? Here’s a quick look at what colours go with the staples of the flooring world: Wood flooring The great thing about wood flooring is that it pairs very nicely with a huge range of other textures. Including leather, fabrics and painted surfaces. So, more often than not, there will be wood flooring that goes well with the interior you already have or the one you’re planning to have. Wood also goes well with both modern and classic interior decor styling. What’s more, wood flooring comes in a variety of colours so you can choose whether to get one that matches your home. Or one that complements it instead. Grey carpet Grey is a hugely popular choice for carpet and has been for many years due to its versatility. As grey is a neutral colour, it can be paired with almost anything to tie a room together. Some of the best pairings though are blues, greens and pinks. It’s important to think about the properties of the carpet when you’re purchasing it. Even though you’ve decided on a colour, there are lots of other things to consider too. Such as how durable you want it to be as well as how easy to clean. So make sure you pop into our Worthing or Storrington showroom to speak to our expert team who will be more than happy to help you with which carpet to go for. Think about where the new flooring is going Even if you’re going to be re-flooring your entire home, you need to think about the individual requirements in each room the flooring is going. In this day and age, there are so many different flooring options and each has its benefits in different areas of the house. For example; carpet can be used in the majority of a home and, in fact, there are so many different types of carpet that it would be possible to use a slightly different one in each room. Having said that, you wouldn’t want to put carpet in the kitchen or bathroom because these areas are likely to get wet. Instead, you’ll want to opt for hard flooring such as vinyl flooring which is not only really durable, it’s waterproof and easy to clean too. Taking it a step further, you will need to consider how busy each area of your home is. For example; you’ll want to ensure you have durable flooring in a busy part of the house like the hallway as people will be walking across it frequently. Thinking about where your new flooring is going will help you to get an idea of what type of flooring will work best in that area. Don’t worry if you’re not sure – that’s what our flooring experts are here for! Pop into our Worthing or Storrington flooring showroom to speak to our award-winning team about what will work best in your home. Does it need to be low maintenance? A low maintenance floor is one that is easy to keep clean and looking nice. With more of us living time-starved lives, having a low maintenance floor is becoming imperative. So what are the options? Well, although hard flooring is a great option, they may need continual sweeping and having many carpet varieties are bleach-cleanable these days. Here at Wall Bros Carpets, we stock a range of bleach-cleanable carpets. A type of carpet that is made from polypropylene. A man-made fibre which doesn’t allow liquid to be absorbed into the fibre. We always recommend carrying out a small test with any harsh cleaning products before using them across a large patch in the middle of your lounge but, as the name suggests, bleach-cleanable carpets can really be cleaned with chemical cleaners like bleach. Ensuring that your carpet remains stain-free – even if you love having big parties, have muddy pets and an army of toddlers If you want to avoid carpet altogether, there are lots of different hard flooring options and each type of hard flooring is available in a huge variety of colours and styles. Vinyl flooring is always a favourite when it comes to durability and low maintenance. Not least because the variety of styles it comes in goes with most interiors. Whatever flooring you’re looking for, our friendly team of flooring experts is on hand to give you the advice that you need to make sure you choose the right flooring. Pop into our Worthing or Storrington showroom to see our ranges and speak to the team.
What Flooring Is Most Popular At This Time Of Year?

Or – How to keep those toesies cosy with the right flooring! Believe it or not, Winter has only just officially started! While it may seem as though we’ve had the worst of the cold weather, the coldest months (January and February) are yet to come. Many of us are trying to prepare for those colder spells and look at what we can do within our homes to stop heat from leaking out of them and make sure it’s that bit warmer. Luckily, there are other ways besides central heating to keep our homes warm and one of the most effective is having good flooring. So what types of flooring are trending this Winter? Well, we’ve put together this short guide to give you some flooring inspiration! Carpet, of course! It’s no surprise that carpet continues to be the most popular flooring type all year round, but it’s particularly popular in these colder months. There are lots of different types of carpet, but by far the warmest are ones made from 100% wool. A wool carpet used to be perceived as being ‘hard to clean’ but many now come with stain guard coatings as standard and all wool flooring is extremely hard-wearing. The carpet industry has come a long way since its humble beginnings and now there are thousands of different colour shades and patterns to choose from. We expect patterned carpet to continue to be popular, just as it was in Autumn. While patterned carpet is a fantastic choice, it can be a daunting decision when it comes to which combination of colours or even what pattern would look best. That’s where our flooring experts come in. Pop along to our Worthing or Storrington showroom with a photo of the room you’re buying the carpet for or a sample of the soft furnishings that you wish to match the flooring to. Our experts will be happy to advise on which carpet will be the best match for both the furnishings and the room use. Don’t shy away from wood flooring As we’ve said in a previous blog post, wood flooring can actually do a really good job at keeping your home that bit warmer over Winter. Looking at The 2022 Winter Edition of Design at Home, we can see wood flooring being used a lot as a way to tie lots of different elements together. Not only can wood flooring be a good option for warmth over winter, but it can also look great too. Giving your home a modern and stylish feel. What’s more, wood flooring comes in a huge variety of colours and styles so there’s bound to be something that goes with your home decor. Why not pop into our Worthing or Storrington showroom? There, you can have a look at all of our wood flooring ranges for yourself and speak to our flooring experts. There are other versatile hard flooring options If you’re keen on having a wood flooring look within your home, but need a little more durability or even a less hefty price tag, there are other options. We often advise young families who are after a wood look in their homes to opt for Luxury Vinyl Tiles, or LVT. Mainly because of the durability that this type of flooring offers and how low maintenance it is – perfect for busy parents and small children who may be prone to spills. What’s more, LVT imitates a huge range of hard flooring so there are lots of style options when it comes to choosing the right one for you. If you love the look of wood flooring but are not sure about how well it will stand the test of pets and children, laminate flooring is another fantastic option. This type of flooring is not only easy to maintain but it also doesn’t scratch or scuff easily. Making it a perfect option for houses with furry friends. In a similar way to LVT, laminate flooring comes in a huge range of colours and styles too and we’re happy to show you all of the options. Don’t skimp on the underlay Whatever flooring you choose, spending a fraction more on the best quality underlay will increase your comfort underfoot, increase the lifetime of your flooring and also potentially save you money on fuel bills! Believe us, going ‘better’ on the underlay will be one of the best flooring decisions you can make. Whether it’s carpet, LVT, laminate or vinyl, we have thousands of flooring samples on display for you to see and feel in our Worthing and Storrington stores, so make sure you pop in and see us. We’re open most days and our award-winning team of flooring experts is on hand to advise you on what flooring is going to be best for you. Our Autumn Trends Guide

The colours of Autumn are some of the most beautiful shades that nature shares with us. As Summer comes to an end and the weather begins to turn, you might be looking to update your home to reflect the change in seasons. Here at Wall Bros, we’ve put together our Autumn flooring guide to walk you through the colours and flooring that’s trending for Autumn 2022. If you see something you like the look of, make sure you pop into our Worthing or Storrington showroom to speak to our team of flooring experts about bringing the trend into your home. Colour trends for Autumn 2022 For this Autumn, colour trends are looking a bit different to previous years with more uplifting and light colours becoming a popular choice. In previous years, deep colours have been popular as people opt to compliment shorter days and darker evenings. This year, though, we predict that lighter, more energising colours are going to be popular. Albeit with one or two darker tones thrown in. Light blue Blue is a wonderful colour and this Autumn we expect light blue to be a popular choice. Bringing a splash of light colour to interiors, light blue is a great way to bring hints of the season to come and provide contrast to natural wall colours and darker furniture. All while remaining an energising colour that can bring a sense of tranquillity to your home. Just like in the photo from Ulster Carpets above, the use of light blue in your carpet doesn’t have to be overpowering. In fact, a more subtle blue tone in flecked carpet can work really well to bring a hint of colour while still being incredibly versatile when it comes to the design of the rest of the room. Deep greens Green is typically a colour that we see in Spring and Summer; its use being a reflection of new life and nature. In these Autumn months to come though, we expect deeper shades of greens to become a popular choice. The use of deeper greens offers a surprising warmth and creates a sense of calm as it has connotations of earth and being close to nature. A welcoming feeling when the nights get darker and colder. The great thing about green tones is they go really well with brown tones, making wood flooring or wood-style vinyl flooring a complimenting choice. Just like the photo above – that beautiful herringbone flooring is actually vinyl flooring (Yes, really!) Deep yellows Almost as a carryover from the Summer trend where brighter yellows were popular, now as we approach Autumn, deeper yellows are taking the limelight, just like they do when the leaves on the trees turn and become golden. Unlike the other colour trends we’ve mentioned, deep yellow tones usually do become more popular at this time of year and we expect that this year will be no different. Just like the photo above, deeper yellows look great on soft furnishings and walls. Wood flooring compliments yellow tones really well and it can be a great opportunity to incorporate the flooring trend of oversized planks which we’ll talk about later. Grey (of course!) It goes without saying that the colour grey is a strong trend throughout the year mainly due to its versatility and sense of luxury it brings to home interiors. Autumn 2022 is no different and choosing grey carpet is a fantastic way to pay homage to this continuously strong trend. The photo from Brockway Carpets above is a great example of a lounge space that has captured most of the colour trends we’ve mentioned. With the green and blue being used in the furnishings, the grey carpet ties all of the colours together. Flooring trends for Autumn 2022 Wood flooring As the weather gets colder, people tend to be drawn to darker tones and we expect this to be reflected in a dark wood flooring trend over Autumn. Although wood flooring is often thought of as cold, a good underlay will improve both comfort and warmth underfoot. Creating a great choice over Autumn. The photo from Quick Step above demonstrates our point earlier that a dark wood flooring compliments deep yellow. Adding deep yellows or possibly blue and green with soft furnishings is a fantastic way to create a perfect, on-trend look in your home. Don’t forget that there are different-sized planks that can create a beautiful wood flooring. Although other sized planks are making a comeback, wide planks are still a firm trend and we expect this to continue through Autumn. Why not opt for a wide-plank dark wood flooring this Autumn? Patterns Just like last Autumn, patterned flooring is set to be popular this year as people continue to bring an element of nature into their homes. With floral and plant patterns being among the most popular pattern choices. Having said that, patterned carpet doesn’t have to be a reflection of living nature as the pictured Ulster Carpets’ watercolour collection shows. The mixtures of colours in the watercolour range are elemental, making the carpets reminiscent of the earth, sea and sky. Allowing you to bring a sense of nature into your home, while staying away from florals and plant-themed patterns. Although if you’d like to opt for hard flooring, there are plenty of vinyl flooring that incorporates pattern into its design. The Invictus Victorian Treasure Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is a fantastic example of that (see right) and Invictus also produces matching carpets to go with all of its LVT ranges. Vinyl flooring Vinyl flooring is a favourable choice in the current market as buyers can enjoy the look of materials such as stone and wood in their homes without the price tag. Advances in the flooring industry have meant that vinyl flooring has become progressively more able to mimic different materials. LVT in particular can have the texture of other materials such as stone because it is laid in square pieces. Rather than as one piece of flooring like other
Our Flooring Guide For Summer 2022

Over the last few years, neutral colours have been a strong flooring trend. From silvery greys to natural hues, people have been opting for neutral colours and adding splashes of colour to their interior with bold furnishings. Recently brighter and more colourful flooring shades have begun to trend. Now we’re heading into the summer months, following these colourful trends to brighten up your home could be the refresh you’re looking for. That’s why we’ve put together our summer 2022 trends guide for you. So you can get all your flooring inspiration in one place. From colours and patterns to materials, we’ve got it covered! Colour Trends For Summer 2022 As we mentioned at the beginning, bolder and more colourful floorings are trending. Now the evenings are getting lighter again, it’s a great time to adopt the summer 2022 colour trends into your home or workplace. If you’re looking to refresh your home decor, then why not consider these four colour trends below? Yellow As a way to bring the sunshine in, yellows have been becoming increasingly popular as the weather changes. The great thing about yellows is that they come in such a wide variety of shades; from the vibrant shade, you see in the kitchen above to more soft and subtle shades in the kitchen below. If you’re choosing to change your wall or cabinet colour, it’s crucial that the flooring compliments those changes. As you’ll see from the first photo, laminate flooring is a great option as it comes in beautiful light colours. Alternatively, tiled flooring like in the second photo can be used to break up the bright colours and give the room a new look. Natural White Just like yellow, white comes in all different shades and in Summer 2022, natural white is going to be a popular choice. Natural white lends itself well to any other colour, meaning it can be used in any room in the house and with any colour scheme. Bold-coloured carpets would pair really well with a natural white interior. Remember that flooring doesn’t have to be something that is overlooked. Instead, it can be a statement piece and be used to bring a pop of colour and pattern to a room. We think this natural white colour trend in Summer 2022 is a great opportunity to be bolder with the flooring. Deep red Like all trends, there’s going to be something for everyone and so are very varied. As you’ll see from the first two colours, one of the biggest colour trends for Summer 2022 is incorporating the brighter weather and bringing Summer into your home. However; there are other trends too and deep red is making a comeback! Not only have we started to see more people choosing dark red carpet, people are also choosing to change other elements of their home interiors to incorporate this strong colour. With brighter days on the horizon, darker colours can bring tranquillity to your interior. Flooring Trends for Summer 2022 Now we’ve given you a glimpse into the colours that are trending, it’s time to cast our minds to flooring and look at the types people are choosing. Of course, liking how your flooring looks is a crucial element to choosing the right one, but there are other factors involved. Such as, which one is best for your young family or which one is going to be easiest to clean? Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) Vinyl flooring has become increasingly popular over the last few years. Mainly due to its extremely hard-wearing nature and the fact that it comes in almost any shade, colour, style and pattern!. Many people opt for vinyl flooring as they want the look of wood or tiles without the price tag and, as technology has improved, so has vinyl’s ability to mimic these materials. The great thing about vinyl tiles is they allow you to create your own patterns if you wish. Offering a unique look to your home interior. On top of this, vinyl tiles are super easy to maintain and so are perfect for young families and people with a busy lifestyle… or people that don’t like chores! Laminate Just like the bright colours in the colour trends, people are choosing light laminates. Both residential and commercial interiors are beginning to reap the benefits of laminate flooring. It’s easy to maintain and continues to look stylish and modern. Being hard-wearing, it’s a perfect option for high-traffic areas; such as hallways in houses and meeting areas in commercial spaces, like the photo above. There are lots of different shades available and so there’s bound to be a shade that suits your style and interior. Wide planks As suspected, herringbone flooring continues to be a huge trend as it’s a great way to make a space unique and stylish. But there are other wide-plank floorings that are also becoming popular and we suspect will only get more popular as we go into summer. This wide plank trend goes hand in hand with the rising use in vinyl flooring as vinyl planks allow huge versatility in colour and pattern. Another great thing about using planks is that they add realistic texture to the floor, making wood-style vinyl feel like real wood; for example. Our Guide To Autumn And Winter Flooring Trends 2021

Now that the weather is getting colder, people may be looking to change their flooring to match the seasons and keep their home warm through these colder months. It can be a difficult task to choose the right flooring for your home so we thought we’d compile a list of what’s trending now as well as what to look out for in Winter 2021. Autumn and Winter Colour Trends Dark and contrasting colours Feature walls have been a design highlight for many years now. We think it’s about time the ‘Feature Floor’ took over that mantle!. Both manufacturers and consumers are becoming more adventurous with colour choices and this is starting to become a real trend later into 2021. Using dark colours is a great way to make your home feel cosy as the temperature outside drops. If you’re interested in choosing a darker floor, remember that we have an Invictus Flooring interactive display that allows you to see the flooring in situ, as it would look in your home. Neutral colours Despite the trend for strong colour increasing, this does not mean the ever-present trend for classic neutral colours is waning. . Having a neutral colour palette for your flooring means that you can be versatile with decor and change up your interior design as often as your style or the season changes. Perhaps you’re keen to try out bright or dark soft furnishings; a more subtle flooring allows you to try out almost anything!. Some of you may be familiar with the cottage cottagecore trend; which is the aesthetic of an idyllic life in the countryside. This neutral colours trend for autumn 2021 has similarities to that and offers a beautiful, simplistic style. Nature’s beauty Just like in our previous trends blog, natural looks deserve a mention as this colour scheme continues to be popular. This is especially true through autumn as tree leaves turn a beautiful orange colour and many people choose to bring orange tones into their homes to reflect the changing of the seasons. Bringing the outside in is something that is becoming more prevalent in modern times; think big bi-folding doors and inside elements being brought outside. It’s no surprise that nature-inspired colours are continuing to be chosen for home decor. Autumn and winter flooring trends Eco-warrior As buyers become more aware of our impact on the planet and making environmentally friendly purchase choices, it’s no surprise that eco-friendly flooring choices are also becoming popular. People are looking for sustainably sourced flooring options such as natural fibre carpet and wood flooring. Here at Wall Bros Carpets, our wood flooring is sustainably sourced and we even stock a super soft and hard-wearing carpet that is made out of old fishing nets and plastic bottles – yes really (see the photo above)! This means that the people who choose that carpet can be assured that they’ve helped to clean the world’s oceans. What a fantastic added bonus. Vintage patterns The trend of ‘old is the new new’ continues to be strong through the Autumn and this popularity is set to continue through the Winter of 2021. One of the main styles to watch is recreating 19th-century encaustic floor tile patterns, as used in the image of the beautiful hallway above. Pairing this with the increasingly popular dark and contrasting colour trend, vintage patterns really are going to be coming into a league of their own into the winter months. The use of patterned flooring allows people to separate different living spaces, creating an obvious break in an otherwise open-plan room. This concept is an increasingly popular way of designing called ‘broken-plan living’ which incorporates different flooring and semi-permanent partitions, such as a bookshelf, to separate the space. Nature textures and patterns Nature makes another appearance in this blog post, but this time for the flooring. People are continuing to bring the outside in. Although this can be achieved with colours, we’re seeing more people choose textured and patterned flooring inspired by nature to further accentuate nature’s beauty. People are becoming more aware of the benefits of having natural elements in their homes. With patterned carpets, beautiful florals don’t have to stop at your garden. Textured carpets are also being used more to bring an outside, yet comfortable, feel underfoot. Herringbone Herringbone patterns continue to be a firm favourite in the flooring industry and, with vintage patterns trending now, we think herringbone will only become more popular. Herringbone flooring became very popular throughout the 1600s in France and is a practical and aesthetically appealing way to bring vintage style into your home. Previously, herringbone flooring was only used in the kitchen and dining areas but is now used in all areas of homes. Vintage style flooring A trend that has taken the flooring industry by storm in recent years is vintage style flooring. It’s true what they say, ‘old is the new new’ and people are loving the vintage style. Wood flooring works really well to give that old feel and, with its hard-wearing properties, it’s perfect for any room in the house. Wood flooring is also easy to maintain and can look better as it wears over time – something that can’t be said about all flooring! The picture shows Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) from the Invictus range that we stock which means that there’s a matching carpet to pair with it. These days, wood flooring is very often not actually wood! Herringbone flooring Also part of the vintage flooring trend, herringbone flooring deserves its own spot on our Summer Flooring Trends list for this year. Its beautiful style is a compliment to any home and is perfect for high traffic areas like the kitchen or hallway. Again, herringbone flooring does not have to be wood. We offer a huge range of colours and wood shades from our Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) ranges. However; if you do want real wood, we have that too. All of our wood flooring is sourced sustainably which makes this an eco-friendly option for environment-conscious flooring lovers. Furthermore, being hard flooring, it is easy to maintain and keep clean. LVT flooring Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) is high on our summer flooring trends list for 2021. It is one of the most popular flooring choices due to its versatility and huge range of colours and patterns. The trending colours right now are light greys and whites; although we have lots of other colours and styles. LVT flooring is great for areas that get wet or have lots of traffic such as a kitchen or bathroom. They look really stylish too and here at Wall Bros Carpets, we can colour match it to your existing room furnishings, and even offer ranges that have coordinating carpet and LVT styles. Neutral carpets Much like grey flooring, neutral carpets are a continuing strong choice when it comes to flooring trends. Neutral carpets are perfect for people who like to change their interior a lot without having to change the flooring each time. What’s more, neutral colours are great at opening up a space and radiating light as opposed to trapping it in. Although some people may be cautious when it comes to neutral carpets due to stains, most of our carpet ranges are bleach cleanable meaning they are very easy to maintain and keep stain-free!
